Hello all. I'm in the process of putting some upgrades into an old Pavilion 500-214 and am having issues with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 TI GPU I'm trying to put in there. After a day of research, I'm seeing a couple potential hurdles: the the 550 ti requires a minimum 400W PSU, while the Pavilion 500 only seems to have 300W. Also, some users are complaining of inability to upgrade the bios, which definitely seems to be the case on this one. It's stuck on a bios that appears to be from 2014. (80.48). Two updates appear to be available from the HP support site, but don't actually work. Considering these issues, is it worth continuing to work on this or is it a lost cause? Microcenter sells some pretty good PSUs for relatively cheap, so that's not an issue, but I'd rather not waste the money if the Pavilion just isn't gonna recognize the graphics card. Thanks in advance for any help.
