I have an tower pc with a noisy/broken fan of the GPU.
I want to replace the GPU but while i'm doing that I was wondering if there are any newer, better or cheaper GPU's.

Current specs:
motherboard: Pegatron Memphis-S
GPU: Radeon R7 240
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790S
case: HP Pavilion 500 PC Series
more: https://support.hp.com/nl-nl/document/c04313146

From what I found using pc specs only these 4 old cards fit?
http://www.pc-specs.com/pc-custom-b...ng=&popular=&makes[]=all&minMemory=&maxPower=

I would use PCpartpicker but they don't list the memphis-s motherboard

Except for the fact your PSU is too small, you can use any modern card. I don't know where you got that list above.
Can you see the nameplate on the side of the PSU? If so, please post a sharp photo of it here.

Btw, you can always use the built-in graphics of the I7 temporarily.

Indeed theres a 180W power supply in this tower
I noticed the Radeon R7 240 only has 30 TDP.
Would the lack of power really bottleneck the performance?

Was hoping pc specs would give me a list listed on rating or price so that I can easily choose. Going random trough the the list I found Sapphire-Radeon-RX-460 to be compatible.
any other suggestions? Maybe one thats only small upgrade but that the PSU can handle?
I do not intend to do hardcore gaming on this pc. I do however do some video editing or 3D mechanical designing

The 75W TDP RX 460 would overload the 180W PSU. Looking at the PSU's nameplate, I was hoping that the +12V rails would have their own wattage limitation. But all it gives is the 180W max for all the rails. However, we can assume that The vast majority of the 180W total capacity would be the load on the +12V rails. So (with 17A available at the +12V rails and nearly 180W capacity), I'd be tempted to use a GT 1030 as the max gfx card.

The GT 1030 is also a 30W TDP card, but it is at least twice as fast as the R7-240.

Thanky you very much.
Since this tower has been running almost 24/7 for at least 2 years I presume the power supply has already deteriorated.
I will remove the radeon GPU and run on the integrated GPU to see if it is needed/ worth replacing the GPU.
Already learned a bit about pc building by now. Thanks for the help guys.

The GT 1030 is probably low enough TDP to work well with a passive cooler like that. As long as you have an exhaust fan to move the warm air out of the case.
I've never seen a zero decibel fan system on low end cards like the GT 1030. But the fans are extremely quiet since they don't have to run very fast to remove the heat from the GPU.
