I've recently agreed to help a family member restore a HP Pavilion 8670C
computer system. She was given the system by her father some time ago. The
system's hard drive had become totally corrupted because of the way they had
been adding and deleting downloaded programs. I'm sure we have all hear that
problem before. The problem is all she has is the computer hardware. She
doesn't know what happen to the software that came with the computer. While
she found an old copy of Microsoft Windows 98; it didn't come with the
computer system. While installing this operating system was not a problem;
drivers for several of the embedded devices were not found. The devices are
the PCI Communications Device, PCI Ethernet Controller, PCI Input
Controller, PCI Multimedia Audio Device and Video Card. No drivers were
found for the four PCI devices. The standard VGA drivers were installed for
video support. My currently searches have indicated that the recovery disc
for this system is no longer in production, nor has found a location for
software/drivers related to these devices on this computer. If anyone has
any leads for me, I would be most appreciative for any assistance.
