I am extremely tempted to pull the trigger on it. That looks like an awesome set-up.

So, is it worth it? Are there any deals that can be added to it? Opinions? Also, that video card is not yet available for sale until next week. I have this item sitting in my shopping cart.

I'm torn if I should buy it and not have any worries, or wait 3 weeks and hand build a system with the ATI HD4870 (w/ GDDR5) video card, and same specs.

This might be an old post, but I'm going to answer it in the hopes that it might help someone else looking at HP for media center systems: STAY AWAY FROM HP!!!!!

They are completely incompetent when it comes to cablecard setups, and despite a whole year's worth of phone calls from me and multiple trouble tickets, they have done NOTHING to resolve the problems with the computer I purchased from them SPECIFICALLY for cablecard capability. They either don't know anything about the systems they sell, or worse (which I believe to be the case) don't care if you ever get to use the computer for what you bought it for. After all, what are you going to do, ship it back to them for a refund? GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! When you call HP support you get someone in Pakistan, any of several south american countries, Canada, or possibly Ireland; no one in any of those countries know what the hell a cablecard is, and they have ZERO documentation about them on their own internal support resources, much less the laughably tiny bits of FAQ-type support they bother to put up on the customer-facing site.

If you want to purchase a computer for surfing the web and overpay for it, please feel free to flush your money down the toilet that is HP. If, however you want a computer that works, purchase a Dell. At least they're cheaper and they actually try to resolve a problem if you can get to an english-speaking person in the states.

I strongly agree. Stay away from HP. Many users are having problem with the d5000t and other HP computers.

I hope you didn't buy this computer, and if you did, I hope you didn't get problems. There's one with the motherboard in these models. I own one and I regret it every day.

Bought mine in June 2008, Q9450 @ 2.66GHz, Vista Home Premium SP1 32 bit, 4GB memory, 500GB HD, 2 DVD drives, 802.11 b/g wireless Lan card & modem card. I then added later to this pc 2 internal WD Caviar 1TB hardrives, Bluray drive, PNY XLR8 8800GT videocard. Have had no problems with this pc at all. paid 1270.01 including tax.

The PNY XLR8 8800GT bought 2 of them when Best Buy was closing them out at the store $100.00 each. The problem in some of the D5000T pc's were the HD made by Seagate. Mine came with a WD 500GB Caviar HDD. The power supply was not the problem or the OS. On the power supply i added 2 internal HDD, a Blu-ray drive, and upgraded the GPU from a 8500GT to a 8800GT and have not had any problems. On Seagate HDD's i bought a external 1.5 TB it would power up but thats it no recognition of the USB etc, took it back and bought the 2 8800GT,s instead, a great choice i now know.

11 years later and my Pavilion Elite d5000t is still running. Upgraded to Windows 7 and then 10. Bought more memory and a new video card a few years back.

Wow. 11 years. I will give credit. I normally hate hp systems. Just don't like the way they are designed, put together etc. The ones I've worked on are usually a pain in the rear end due to not using standard screws etc. If you are gaming, or even if you're not, might be time to consider upgrading. That core 2 quad is very old tech now days.
