HP Pavilion G7-1270ca CPU upgrade

Hi guys,

I currently have a HP Pavilion G7-1270ca. After a couple weeks trying to upgrading my laptop, I have stumbled upon many compatibility problem with CPU upgrade. My laptop uses core i5 2430M socket 988 rPGA and is supported by HM65 motherboard chipset. So my question is can I upgrade it to core i7 2670QM or something better such as core i7 2960XM, which were not listed in the HP Pavilion G7 Maintenance Guide? Or would I have to go with core i7 2620M, which was listed in the Guide instead?

I'd appreciate if you guys respond. Thanks.

yea its best to go with whats known is supported and your cpu fan might not be able to cool a 55w cpu(i7-2960xm) vs a 35w cpu(i5-2430m)
