I am upgrading my parent old HP desktop and wanted to uprgade the graphics card but cant seem to get it to work. Every time i install the new card and fire it up, i get a blank screen and my monitor says no signal. I've tried disabling the on board graphics driver, ive uninstalled the onboard graphics drive but no luck. Any other suggestions? Note - i've upgraded the power supply to a 650W.

What's the last BIOS version/date of that HP desktop PC ? Are you using the latest version ? Have you also tried clearing/resetting all the CMOS/BIOS settings to default ?

Can you boot the same system, if you use the onboard/integrated graphics ? Can you check what does it say, under the Device Manager, "Display Adapters" setting, assuming you can boot your OS ?

yes, i can boot the system using the integrated graphics. I have not tried clearing the CMOS.

BIOS Version/Date AMI 7.16, 3/23/2012

Display adapter is IntelR Graphics family diver version 8.15.10.2538

i reinstalled the drives as i try to trouble shoot, much easier to navigate. Tried to post a screen shot but the forum doesn't appear to let me.
