As said in the title, my aunt's computer is having some big issues. I was selected to have a "look" at it, and being born into this decade has made me fond of the great technological advancements, and so it was up to me to figure, and solve the problem. And well, she is tight on money, and that perhaps had me.

She had no explanation of what had caused it, but it would not boot the selected operating system. It would just revert to the boot menu. After restarting (manually), I was brought to a screen where I was enabled to select "Boot Menu," "Boot Device," "System Restore," "Diagnostics." Hopefully that was grammatically fine, but I'm not exactly sure those were the exact words of the four options. It would not allow me access to any of the options, so I rebooted it until it worked.

I selected system restore, and I was glad it seemed to work, but the progress was in a loophole, instead of decreasing time estimate, it would increase. So it would obviously not work. I then selected boot menu, but same as before. I don't believe "Boot Device" was the other option, can't seem to grasp the memory. I then finally chose Diagnostics. All components of the system were responding, but not the hard drive.

So I came to conclusion "Oh, just buy a new one." It was a Western Digital (Caviar) 1.0TB! I was appalled that some of her components bested my "gaming computer." Enough of personal talk and humor. I got another Western Digital Blue 320GB. It was quite difficult to figure how to install it, but after some trouble, I managed. But I may have falsely plugged in a wire to a wrong port. But all fit perfectly, to the best of my memory.

I booted it, and same as before, the four options were still there. I knew that wasn't the end, but I believed that if there was a system restore, that the Windows 7 OS still lies within. After tampering around with it, I saw that it would actually freeze up after a few seconds of boot up. Tested it with the caps lock/ scroll lock/ numpad lock indicator, and so it did. Only the Boot Menu had shown a message of it going to the boot menu. But nothing else happened.

I've explained everything I've done up to now. Hopefully I was able to explain all I've done, that may have tampered with it. Does anyone know?

No, I was hoping that they still kept those restore discs with computers. Usually they had installed software, but no backup or restore CD. Usually, couldn't it be taken offline? But I don't believe they'll just be handing copies.
