Hi there,

I'd like to receive some help with my HP Pavilion DV9000. A few days ago, the main oS ( vista ) didn't work, so I ran it in safe mode and it worked perfectly. As I thought that it was a software-related problem, I formated it.
After doing so, the screen appears with lines or sometimes just a black screen. The booting proccess seems to work perfectly, but I can see nothing.
I plugged it to an external screen and the screen doesn't turn on, but when I remove the VGA cable it shows that there's nothing connected.
I read 'bout pressing Fn + F4 to change between the screens but nothing happens. When I press ANY F key, it beeps like 4-5-6 times in a row.
I got no warranty so I'd like to fix it.

Got any ideas ?

Thanks.

If you are sure that you connected the external screen properly, it could be the video card or the motherboard. Try booting the laptop with the monitor attached. If you get no image on that, does anything come up on the laptop screen? Does it at least get to the BIOS?

If the drive seems to be spinning, and you can hear the Windows startup music, it may just be a screen issue, in which case replacing the inverter or the LCD panel will fix this.
