HP Printer Icon Always Blinking!

My HP Deskjet 940c's Icon in the Tray is always blinking, so as to inform me it's time to change my printer's ink cartridges. Trouble is...it starts blinking 5 minutes after I install a new cartridge.

Is it possible to shut this thing off? It's driving me nuts (I looked around in the HP Toolbox; & couldn't seem to find a setting.)

Try running "msconfig" and unload the HP program from the startup list.

Good point (wish I'd thought of it.) I guess that's my only recourse, as I looked through all the printer settings & couldn't find anything relevant.
