Hp printer scanner copier light

Hello,
My printer prints fine but when I copy or scan the output is all black.

Do you maybe have the contrast or brightness settings all the way down?

Look for a "reset to defaults" option in scanning, if that does not do it, your scanner may ba faulty.

I did reset all the settings to default. If I lift the cover when it is copying or scanning it does not appear as though the light is coming on and this is why I thought maybe there was a light burnt out that could be replaced.

In theory you can fix it, but the cost of doing that is usually the same or close to the price of a new unit. Look on ebay for parts for your model and figure it out. Add in the cost/risk of either opening it up yourself or having a tech do the work.

Most pro shops that work on printers don't even work on InkJets due to the cheapness of most of them. Assuming you have an InkJet and not a laser.
