Hp printer won\'t print with usb

HP Deskjet 820Cse printer won't print using USB connection on new PC. Old PC using parallel cable works fine.
Why can't I get this HP PC to recognize the printer?

You are missing a printer driver, download it from HP support site:

Edit: looks like you get your driver from window update, do a window update. Type "windows update" without qoutes into the start search box and select "windows update". On the lift hand side, click "check for updates".

I've loaded the driver many times; no help. Is the problem the USB to Parallel printer cable? I have the USB end connected to the PC, the parallel cable end is the only connection on the printer.

Oh,you are connecting the printer using a parallel usb adapter? That could be the problem. Although I don't know what can be done about that. I assume there is no driver require for the adapter. But I am no expert of legacy hardware, sorry.

Sounds like I just have to buy a new printer. Thanks for the help.
