HP Probook 430 G2 touchpad

I have a HP Probook 430 G2 and either the touchpad or the motherboard is faulty. The laptop only boots if the touchpad is disconnected. I can't find a used or new touchpad anywhere as I guess the model is fairly new (Synaptics 920-002458). There are plenty of other models on ebay, etc and some look like they might work as replacement.
Are different Synaptics touchpads - if they physically fit and have the right connection - compatible?

No way to tell without asking HP support, and the answer would likely be NO from them.
It's not in warranty anymore? Did you check for a part from HP?
