hp screen issue

hello TH community.
I have an HP Pavilion g6-1d46dx Notebook PC i bought from a friend without a screen that is currently hooked up to my tv. The image and everything works fine but when I bought a replacement screen and plugged it in I got nothing but black. My friend told me that it was a motherboard issue? does anyone know where I should go from here?...

no, its not bad at all...
Can you plug up the monitor to a wall, then go into the settings of the monitor?

I see no way to plug it into the wall. Is has some sort of circuit on the back with a female plug in spot the fits with the ribbon thats on my screen less laptop.

Oh, then I'd look for a spreadsheet. But HP really sucks at support,so finding a spreadsheet will be hard. Take apart the base of the laptop and make your way to the monitor. Look for where the monitors ribbons/cables plug into the motherboard.
