BFD... You can get the ASUS Memo Pad HD 7 for $100.00 and it has better specs. Quad Core 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB System Mem, 8GB Storage, Micro SD Card Slot (up to 32GB), and a 1280 x 800 resolution screen.

Piece of crap. Totally different from their Slate 7 Extreme which is decidedly not a piece of crap. More money does in fact buy you less crap. With tech, that's a good thing.

Man I still can't believe how fortunate I was to grab a Nook HD for $80 last christmas.

I'm a computer geek, and don't own a tablet and have no interest in one. What's weird is every single member of my family has one (sister, brother-in-law, dad..).

Also, every single person I know rarely uses them.

What's even worse is the cost of phones. I pay $100 (CDN) per year for a basic phone and plan. I know several people who pay $60 per month and have for at least SIX years.

That's over $4000!

(I used to carry around a quarter for a payphone and average 50 cents per month)

A Tegra 3 is slowwwwww, compared to the A31, the RK3188, or any of the newer generation quad cores. Tegra 3 is only about a 12 gigaflop GPU, where as the SGX544MP in the A31 is about 23 gigaflops, so quite a difference.

You're talking about the allwinner a10 or a13 maybe, the a31 in this tablet is far more powerful and advanced, and you can definitely not get it for 40$. It's a decent tablet for a decent price, naturally going higher in price would get you a better one.
