I have a network shared HP Series 1000 printer running on a Windows XP computer.

I want to print to it from my Windows 10 laptop.

I tried to follow the instructions in the last post of this thread but HP LaserJet 1100 MS driver is not presented when I do a Windows update.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Print...ows-7-and-HP-Laserjet-1000/td-p/129513/page/5

Is there another driver I could use to get to this to work? When I put in the HP 3055 PCL 5 driver which was suggested from a video I watched, I get a test page that says Windows Printer Test Page but the rest of the output is garbage.

You could rely on this support site;
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-1100-printer-series/25470
choose Windows NT, download hp LaserJet 1100/1100A PCL 5e driver onto your laptop, then right click the installer on your system>Properties>Compatibility>Windows Vista, then hit apply>OK, then right click installer>Run as Administrator and see if you get the drivers to install.

Are you working with an HP LaserJet 1100 MS...?

The download link was an .exe file that simply put .dlls in a directory. When I chose one for my local port defined as in the link in my original post it said it wasn't compatible with a 64 bit machine. I am not sure what I am suppose to right click on to have the driver show up as an option that will run in a 64 bit environment.

I tried these printers and they did not work. I am getting a "Printer error" with owner "Guest" on the machine for which the HP printer is attached.

I set up a Virtualbox VM running XP Pro. When I select a printer using the ip address of the machine with the printer and the printer name (\\192.168.1.20\hpLaserJet1000) I get the same error. Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Sorry to take everyone back 20 years to XP but I hate to give up on a perfectly good printer.
