Hp solution center fails to launch with new printer

Hello,
After problems with HP Solution Center on my old printer, HP suggested I upgrade to a HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless. Guess what, no matter what I do, the HP Solution getsan error that the device is not connected. Otherwise the printer works fine. My OS is Windows 7, upgraded from Vista.

After several days on the phone with HP Support (Printers) I was transferred to HP Support (Desktop). No one could resolve the issue.

I noticed that there was no download for the HP Solution Center for my HP printer in Windows 7... just for older versions of windows. I only use the Solution Center for scaning. Now i use the windows fax and scan program that comes with Windows 7.

I wound up doing the same. Still you would think it would function.
