HP System Recovery vs Windows 7 Reformat

Looking for a bit of advice on which path to take here. I have a HP Folio ultrabook that has been having some issues to the point where I'd like to just start fresh. I am trying to decide whether to use the HP Recovery Manager and do a System Recovery to "return to factory condition" or to just back up the Windows 7 activation and do a clean reformatting with a Windows 7 USB key I made.

If I were to do the clean reformat, is there any reason to keep the recovery partition that HP uses? I don't know if it would be beneficial for System Restore or other uses afterwards.

Thanks for advice or opinions I really appreciate it!

Right I know that, I guess I'm asking about doing a full reinstall to get rid of bloatware and hope for better performance in general. I don't know exactly how good HP's customized Windows 7 is compared to a fresh install, that's the main question I'm hoping someone here can answer.

Thanks for replying!
