Hi

I have a HP Touchsmart 300 which had a faulty optical drive. I bought a replacement optirac CD/DVD drive which was mounted on the machine.

I can eject using the right click in my computer on the drive letter. It wouldn't eject via the hard button outside the case which is attached to a switch mechanism with wires running to the insides ( this makes me think that the ejection is software controlled. Maybe a HP software). Before replacing the faulty drive, the drive was eject flawlessly via the hard buton.

I am looking for help if somebody has a smilar situation before.

Thanks

Thomas

can you eject by pressing the eject button on the optical drive itself?
it sounds like your case has a bezel and it has a button on the outside of the case that suppose to press the internal button. with the new drive the button location might be in a different spot than the old one

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue here on the same computer. I replaced it now with two different (but very similar) drives including the GT20L and the TS633, both the units operate okay but that eject button function just isn't doing the job and it's driving me and the client up the wall.

There's no bezel issue because the eject button is actually elsewhere on the case (about 1" below the limits of the bezel).

Would love a fix to this.

I ended up swapping the controller boards out of the drives (TSS TS-L633N/HP) and that worked wonderfully.
