I am using a HP spectre laptop. And recently the laptop will just hang/freeze/gray screen at random after being idle. It happens at random. I have done a reset but to no avail. I sent it to a laptop repair shop but they did the necessary checks and no issues r found. It is very annoying as I cannot leave the computer idle anymore. Once I leave it idle. It has a good chance to hang there and I have to do a force shut down.

It's likely a corrupted file on your computer which is hampering the defrag process when the system goes into idle. Your comp shop wouldn't pick up on it because it's one small file, even now I couldn't tell you what file it is.

What you'll need to do is manually defrag your hard drive, when you do, pay attention to where it's stopping the defrag, it will show you a percentage, and there will be an 'Advanced' Option, click that for details as to the file or folder. Simply delete that file or folder and your issue will likely be fixed.

If that fails, back up your data and re-install the OS.

Depending on the file or folder you may lose data, this is unfortunate but in the future it's preventable with a simple back up. Recommend either...
