Hello everyone,

I have this HP Z1 AIOs at my workplace, with nVidia Quadro 1000m.
Also Alienware m17x R3 with nVidia GTX660m (M/B is dead).

I decided to put 660m in Z1 instead off Quadro, and I did it.

Now I have this little issue. I can see that driver is installed in Device Manager, but system works on low res and I cannot start nVidia Control Panel.

Am I doing something wrong, or Z1 just doesn't have GPU support?

Thanks.

A few things that might cause problems:

*The Quadro card outputs 45W of heat, whereas the 660M outputs 50W. I would hope the cooling in the Z1 isn't so weak that it can't deal with 5 more watts, but it's a possibility, however unlikely.

*The 660M utilizes PCI Express 3.0, while the Quadro 1000M uses PCIe 2.0. This could be an issue as the CPU has PCIe 3.0 support but the C206 chipset only has PCIe 2.0 support, and HP's BIOS just might be dumb enough to misconfigure the different GPU. Also unlikely.

*Most likely is a driver installation that didn't go properly. Make sure you have the proper driver installed, like one of these:

64-bit: http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/86506

Hi, I have just a short addition, that may be of some help. I agree it is likely a driver or possibly a permissions issue, depending on the OS in use and the network policies in play.

For your reference here are the specs/datasheet ofr the Z1, including the factory options for graphics adapters, so heat really should not be the cause. http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/workstations/images/datasheet_z1.pdf

I post on behalf of HP.

Thank you for answer.

I saw datasheet and tried few things after that, I stopped trying I after flashed Z1 bios for latest version, after that GTX stopped working, Z1 wont recognize it anymore, so I returned Quadro on it's place.

I have no clue what to do next.
I need this GTX for Adobe applications, Quadro is too weak for them.
