I have an old HP Z400 with the stock 475w PSU, socket LGA 1366, Intel X5690 / 3,46ghz, 48GB, and Radeon rx6600 8GB gpu.

When I bought the 6600 it was advertised for a minimum of 500w PSU but it works out well on the 475w stock PSU that this system has (lets say i havnt noticed any). The card I now have my eyes on is advertised with a minimum of 550w....

My question is, (and i know im pushing it being as old as this system is) but would it with stock PSU of 475w be able to support this rtx3060 12GB videocard?

Don’t bother with the 3060. The rtx 3060 is pretty much equal to your existing rx 6600. Maybe slightly above but not a noticeable upgrade. Have a look.

As you can see on some games the 3060 is ahead but not by a lot depending what you play and sometimes is behind. The only real advantage the 3060 gives you is ray tracing which can be considered a niche feature.

My suggestion would be keep the card you’ve got, enjoy it now and start looking at building a newer pc that you can carry that cards over to. Once you do that then you can start saving up for a better gpu since new generations are being released anyway and so pretty soon the rx 6600 and 3060 will both be last generation cards. Then when you go for a newer card you can get a 1440p screen and maybe something like a 7700xt or 4070 where you will notice a larger difference.

I was in doubt to return it and try some more powerfull one but your suggestion seems the way to go indeed (new pc in time)
