I have a HP Z640 Dual zeon workstation with 2no Hp 256GB turbo z pcie drives (one 256 pcie "C" drive win 10pro & other 256 pcie "D" drive win 7). I am wanting to upgrade one of the drives (C drive) to at least 512GB. I have purchased a Genuine 512 HP z turbo SSD drive - P/N MZVLW512HMJP-000HI. My question is the best workflow to clone existing 256mb drive to a new 512mb"C" drive win 10pro drive. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

First off do you have another slot to install the m.2 drive? If not the pull the D:\ out and install the 512GB drive in its place. There are many programs out there to clone a drive, i use Macrium Reflect for all my cloning.

Swap the D:\ for the new 512GB drive, clone C:\ to new drive, replace 256GB C:\ drive with new 512GB C:\ drive and make sure the computer boots with new drive. If it does then turn off computer and reinstall the old D:\ drive.

You can also use a USB caddie for the new drive and clone the C:\ straight to it, then just swap out the old and new drives. I carry two of these PCIe and SATA caddies in my IT bag, it actually wouldn't hurt to get one as you can turn your old 256GB drive into an external usb drive after the clone.
