HPET - Should I Enable or Disable it?

Hi everyone, Can someone explain me what is High Precision Event Timer ( HPET )? I saw it in my BIOS settings and there are only 2 settings, Enable and Disable and It's enabled by Default. I've googled about it a bit and found some people reported to see improvement in performance while It was Enabled and some while It was disabled.

So Should I enable it or disable it?

P.S - I have a FX6300 and Win 10 if that matters.

Thank You. It was helpful and I'm seeing 7-8FPS performance improvements after Enabling HPET both in BIOS and OS though my Boot Time has increased 1-2sec more.

I guess I'll leave it at on

P.S - It was only on in the BIOS by default but not in OS.
