Does anyone know what HPOSM.exe does in Windows XP? I know it is legit
and came with my HP PhotoSmart 8450 Printer. I am currently only using
its USB cable for printing (will use other features later on).

I noticed HPOSM.exe comes up once in a while in Windows XP's Task Manager
and other Process Viewer programs. Why does it have to run? Is there a
way to disable it since I don't use the printer all the time?

Thank you in advance. :)

I don't mean to be rude, but you should try Googling once in a while you'd
be amazed by what you find. I entered that exe in Google and it returned 50+
hits. You should try it.

I already did that, but I did not find the answers why it runs and how to
make it stop running by itself. If I missed that specific newsgroup
thread(s), then please kindly post the URL(s) with TinyURL.

Thank you in advance. :)

Funny. I just ran a Google and no 10 was this post from you ;-)

Also, the answer to whether it's a problem or not was IIRC, the first
or second link.

If you were referring to superadblocker.com links, then they did not
answer all of my questions. It did not answer my second half of questions
why it has to run this process in the background once in a while (even
when not printing) and if this specific process can be disabled.
