HTC Beats Oculus To Standalone VR

Very interesting... It would be quite the accomplishment if HTC finds some way to allow this new Android based HMD to use the existing content on the SteamVR platform. I can't see how that would be possible given the enormous difference in GPU/computation power between an ARM processor and something like a GTX 970. It will be interesting to see how all this pans out.

You guys need to use more software. It would be EXTREMELY easy to use an android based platform for steam vr games. There are apps that spoof your pc into thinking you have a rift or a steam vr headset. And since Valve made steamvr, I doubt the handshake process is going to be difficult to do. you can still have the gpu process the graphics while the headset handles image warping and tracking. They dont need to make a this into a premium mobile vr headset but a platform neutral vr headset thats affordable and easy to use.

The latency would be too high. People would get sick.

The reason we don't yet have wireless VR isn't because nobody thought of it, but because it's hard to do well enough.
