Hi guys,

So i recently got myself a cheapo HTC Desire HD off a friend, nothing special. But my issue with the phone is, lag. The phone had already been flashed with Android 4.2.2 Jellybean and so is rooted. I thought i was going to flash it to CM12 Lollipop 5.0 and so i factory reset it, but i'm not very experienced in Android and so thought the process unnecessary and complicated and so left it at that. Regardless, The phone lags on everything, it lags on messenger, it lags on the locker screen. Every now and then, an app will stop responding. The phone has pretty decent hardware (i think) so i dont know what the problem is. I've replaced the locker screen with CM locker which kinda helped. I was using Yahoo Aviate launcher before which i've now replaced with CM Launcher which helps more, but the phone still lags to the point that using it for conversations is impractical. The phone also has a 7gb SD card in it. Below is a list of all the apps installed on the phone (apart from miscellaneous things like Calculator and such) , just in case you guys think one of them is dodgy. Some of them were already there after the factory reset and i cannot seem to be able to uninstall them:

Apollo (already there)
Browser (already there)
Downloads v 4.2.2 (already there)
Dsp Manager v 2.0 (already there)
ES file explorer (already there)
Movie Studie v 1.1 (already there)
fb Messenger
Nova launcher (already there and no uninstall option for whatever reason)
Sound recorder
SuperUser
Terminal Emulator

thats it. If you need any information i am happy to provide it, thanks.

That phone is about 5 years old, don't even know if it's a dual core model and not that much RAM in it, AND it's running an Android version it was not designed to run. The last official Android on it looks to be 2.3. I'd say it being laggy is normal in the state it's in.

See if you can download the stock ROM for it and flash it to stock form, that may help.

It may also simply be a hardware issue with the chips, the older the phone is the more heat and stress it goes though, the CPU could be running slower to keep itself from overheating and dying. I had two dual-core Motorola Droid X2 phones, one ran great till I killed it with beer, got a replacement and it ran a lot slower with crashes, even though it did work overall, just poorly.
