HTC Vive: 15m HDMI or DisplP cable

To connect the PC to the link box of the HTC Vive (VR glasses) I have two options:

15m HDMI cable connected with an active DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 Adapter from Club3D, because I have only DispP free on the 980Ti graphics card or

15m DisplP cable (version 1.2)

The HTC Vives data:
1200 x 1080 (per eye) @ 90Hz

Waht would be better for the signal quality over 15m?

I would just a displayport cable then. I don't see any advantage of going from displayport to hdmi?

DP can't do 15m. Max is 3m before needing a fibre optic cable. Do a HDMI to DP, but keep DP to max 3m.

It doesn't make any sense for the Vive to have a DisplayPort input if the max length is 10 feet when the roomscale used is 15x15 feet. What's the point?

Also, apparently it's a mini displayport on the link box.

mDP to DP adapter. The only difference is the size.

Unfortuanately I need a long way from my PC to the linkbox on the couch. And yes, I read this on many locations on the internet, that HDMI can be longer than DP. But I am not completely sure, if this is only a very strong limit of the DP-people or has really technically reasons.
