I was looking at the i3-3240 - 3.4 GHz for $100, but newegg says the newer version is this for $60?

And then im looking at the skylake i3-6100 3.7ghz.

For mobo im looking at these two options:

The only real difference i can see is the support for thunderbolt. Would it be better to spend a little more and get thunderbolt support??

What do you think?

Your links are not working for me.
i3-3240 is older tech and needs a lga1155 motherboard.
A newer haswell might be a i3-4170 @3.7 which needs a lga1150 motherboard.
The skylake i3-6100 is a much better choice because it includes much better integrated graphics.
Skylake needs a lga1151 motherboard.

I doubt you will have a need for thunderbolt, there are very few such devices.

My last question is what is the best memmory setup for this mb? it says its dual channel and 4 slots, so does that mean I should do 2 4gb cards to utilize the most memory (1 each channel). And how much should i get for 4k output? Is 4Gb ok or should i go 6 or 8? and what speed?
