Hi all,

So I've gone to purchase a Hue+ kit for Aer fans, luckily before I bought I checked clearance on rear side of motherboard tray, and I don't quite have enough.

Its a 2.5in form factor but slightly taller (at 23mm). I would have thought more people would have this issue of not clearing.

My question is can you just take the top cover off? Most of it looks like its just for show anyway with the angled design and LED light on top. Searched Google and these are the only occurances I can find:

So is it possible, will it actually save much height, will it still work? Obviously I'm prepared to void the warranty if need be, although I'm crossing my fingers you can just unscrew the top then screw it back on.

Any experience with this?

Thanks
