huge fps drop when the gpu usage hits 100

i have a 940 mx graphics card and core i7 processor i should be able to play fifa 18 at 60 fps at low settings and i was able to play at 60 for some time until the problem happened

the problem is that when i am playing the usage is about 60% and the fps is 60 which is very good but suddenly the gpu usage hit 100% and the fps gets halved and i searched a lot and i cant find any answer

There could be a number of issues

the main one is the thermal throttle which is halving your fps.

so lets try to find the cause
do you have any programs running in the background? or live wallpapers?
is there an issue with amount of vram? maybe its getting filled and the laptop is pushing data to pagefile, causing the gpu to work a little harder to keep your fps at 60?
perhaps you need to force full screen game mode, as windows likes to default all games to windowed (full screen) which eats up more gpu resources.
maybe the gpu gets hot, and underperforms, making it turn itself upto 100% to keep your 60fps, which then overheats it, resulting in the throttle?

thanks a lot man i think maybe it is because of the heat how could i be sure and how could i solve it

download a program like hwmonitor

it will show you running temps of many parts of your computer.

if it is overheating, i suggest you clean the fans / heatsinks
