HX750W now gold certified??

I recently accidentally bought a Corsair HX750w PSU for my new build. I thought I ordered an AX750w, but realized I got the HX when it arrived.

BUT....it seems that the HX now is gold certified. So what is the difference between the HX and AX now besides the AX being modular? Does the HX Gold still shut the fan off below 25% power usage?

Seems like there's absolutely no need to shell out an extra $60 for the AX gold (ahem, excuse me platinum) edition unless a possible 3% increase in efficiency impresses.
