Hi I recently bought a Corsair HX850w Platinum psu and I just wanted to make sure that this power supply can easily handle an rtx 3080. I've used a power supply calculator and i'm honestly not sure if these calculators are accurate. According to the calculator, it doesn't seem like I'll have much headroom if I decide to overclock in the future or if I can even upgrade to a GPU that is a little more power hungry than the 3080 in a few years. I've never overclocked before (aside from just using the OC button on the motherboard) but maybe one day I will and I want to make sure that if I decide to overclock in the future I'll have the headroom to do it. I can still return this power supply and get the 1000w instead, but do you guys think the 850w is enough despite what the calculator says?

IIRC, 3080's under torture loops can peak a little north of 400W (up from the 320W TDP and load ~350W draw).

So with the balance of your components, an HX850 should be plenty.

Your hardware should peak at 600W absolute maximum, and even that would only be very briefly. Under any sort of 'normal' workload, you shoud be <500W.

Great! that's good news. Thanks for the info.
