HXMI to componet

I just up graded my cable to X1 and have the little box for tv2 but it has a HDMI and I have a older tv and only has component. I bought a converter but when I hook it up I just get rows of three different colors of dashes. What is wrong? Thanks in advance guys.

What converter did you get? Did you check with their support?
You will get a horrible signal on your TV anyway even if you get a converter that works, get an HD TV set.
