Hey guys,

I just installed a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. The temperatures seem a tad higher at idle, which doesn't concern me. The thing that concerns me is that if the CPU temperature (monitored by CoreTemp) gets around 35 degrees and stays there, the system will forcefully shut down.

The fan speed goes extremely high. My CPU, with stock cooler, got to around 60 degrees and was perfectly fine. Now my system is shutting down at 35 degrees/high CPU usage.

Any tips? I'm going to try and reseat it. Maybe I put too much thermal paste and it's inhibiting heat transfer. But if it was, my CPU would get really hot, right? Is CoreTemp not reporting proper temperature?

I downloaded OpenHardware and I'll see how my temperatures fare. Will run some CPU intensive programs and see what's what.

What else could be going on? Nothing has changed there as far as I know. The only thing new in my rig is this heatsink.

Edit: It seems that my GPU, a 6970, is now saying it's 100 degrees celsius. Well shit. I have no idea why that's happening. I guess it's not my CPU heatsink, but my GPU itself. 70 degrees C at idle? That's insane.
