I am working on my build, and my hyper 212 evo's x bracket wouldn't line up with the screws, so I had to take it off after apply fresh thermal compound. Do I need to buy rubbing alcohol and start over?

ps. the instructions aren't brilliant, and are purely pictorial. The videos I watched on youtube just now seem to avoid some of the parts i was given with the device(a couple of plastic things and some screws)

ps. where abouts in the uk can I get isopropyl 99% or some other substance to clean it off? I want this built by tomorrow. Was really hoping it would be done already, but the xbracket and screws didn't line up. No idea why.

Solution
There are optional parts. Some are used with one processor socket type, others are used with different ones. The mounting backplate for an Intel cpu will be different than the one used with an AMD cpu. Here is some good info on the installation of your cooler and yes, I would clean off all the thermal paste from both the CPU lid and heatsink base, and start over. Use isopropyl alcohol and either coffee filters or a lint free cloth to clean the parts so no fibers or particles get left behind during the cleaning process that could contaminate the two surfaces.
