So I'm looking into upgrading my CPU from an i5-4670k to a newer i5 or i7. I'm wondering since chipsets keep changing, will my old cooler master hyper 212 evo still be compatible with a 9th gen CPU and mobo? It seems like all that matters are the mounting hole locations but do those ever change?

Thanks!

Solution
Stock mounting holes on non OEMs have been the same on consumer boards since 1156, first gen core i processors. It should work fine, if it seems a little loose you can flex the legs back to get a little more tension against the cpu.
