hi there, ive just got my new coler Hyper 212 Evo in hope to reduce temps of my i5 3470, as ive heard woderfull things about this cooler but for me is just not working good, when I play CPU intesive games like gw2 my CPU goes 65º-73º, and Ive seen ppl with better cpus having less temps with this cooler, is this correct temps for this cooler+cpu? first time I was thinking I installed it rong or somthing but and reinstalled with mx2 thermal paste, and only noticed 2º-4º difference with the stock paste. Before I used artic freezer pro 7 wich is alot smaller and older, and had similar temps as this cooler max 73º in stressing.I know I should only worry if +80º but still I was hoping max 60º with this cooler.

my question: is normal for Hyper 212 Evo(with2fans mode) + i5 3470 to go 73º while heavy gaming? cpu is not OCed or anything.

I recently purchased a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cpu cooler also and had some doubts and issues. I also did reinstall it about 3 or 4 times. That is not because I mounted it wrong. What I made the mistake in was thermal paste application. I used a pea size for mine. I tried the spread method and also a blob method. The pea size worked best for me as I have posted on this forum in regards to my temps. Also, I did add a second fan for a push and pull. One of the times I had to reinstall was because I didn't know I could have the heatsink facing a certain way. I initially had it pulling air from the bottom up to the top of the case. My temps were higher because it was most likely pulling some heat from my video card. Once I reinstalled it with the second fan and did a push and pull where it pulls air from the front of the case and pushes it out on the back, my temps dropped a good amount.

I would highly recommend checking to make sure you screwed on the heatsink tight enough (hand tight) don't want to over due it. Make sure your thermal paste application is enough (not too little and not too much). If you want, youtube has some awesome videos on what the paste looks like once you smash it down. The way it spreads I guess you can say. I don't know if it matters but that little turning screw on the bottom of the heatsink and bracket, I hand tightened that also.

Hope some of this helps as I have just installed my heatsink 2 days ago. I'm still letting the thermal paste cure as it is supposedly supposed to drop a degree or two.

Also, make sure your case has adequate air flow. I have a full tower with 3 200mm fans and 1 140 mm fan.

nah installed again and made shure everything is ok, still idle temp is 39-45 and max 73º, guess i wont be able to get lower temps wit this cooler, and the second fan installed is just usless, dosent make any difference with 1 or 2 fans.My build have decent airflow tho 120s in front and one in back running 1200rpm while gaming,Grafic card goes max 65º-68º while gaming, but I tested whidout the grafic card and idle is still 39º-45º...., I do understand that my room temps are 25º-30º, but somtimes I play at night where is 15º and same temps maybe abit lower but still reach 72º73º while gaming.

my bad I dident buyed a artic cooler, easy to install and i guess more reliable.

Do you have adequate air flow thru your case to expel the hot air?

still same issue, now in winter idle 30º-45º under windows and in games it reaches 65º and in summer almost 73º. the airflow is not an issue I have 3 120 fans puling out the hot air of CPU and my grafic card in iddle is at 25º
