Hi guys,

I was planning to get a new Hyper 212 EVO for my new upcoming build. I heard that it's a common option to add a second fan to the heatsink but is this the stock fan that came with the EVO (http://www.cmstore-usa.com/hyper-212-evo-120mm-fan-oem-package/)? Also will the purchase be worth the temperature drop? Will it even be noticeable since I'll be overclocking on the 4790K?

PS: I can't get the stock fan that came with the link I've provided since I live in Malaysia.

Thanks in advance :)

Solution
the cooling bottleneck isn't removing the heat from the heatsink, it's more transferring the heat from the silicon to the heatsink base through the IHS. So a 2nd fan won't make much if any difference, probably just more noise.

Thanks for your reply everyone :) I'm sorry because I can't choose the best answer since all of your answers do help a lot :3

Moderators if you do see this thread can you mark it as solved? Thanks :)

Close your eyes and pick one...😉

I love that game!

I just added a second fan, then come to see this post. I don't know if these people have done their own experiments, but just gaining "data" from some online post, that's not 100% true, especially when that lacks RPM of fan.

In theory they should act quieter, since two fans don't need a very high RPM to achieve the same air flow, so I did the mod. It works slightly better for my old 3770k, noticeable at least, especially at full load. This is winter so my A/C is on all the time, for a relatively high room temperature, it also helped reduce CPU temp at normal use.

If you happen to have an extra fan and some wire, and an OCed CPU, it won't hurt, and will make you happy.

I'm soo confused... How does the best(lowest) score say "Blademaster Push/Pull without rear fan"??? How do you accomplish Push/Pull with no rear fan?? sorry if I'm missing something simple. I have one of these and I'm very interested to know what you meant, if your still around the forums, or if anyone else can explain it to me, I'd appreciate it!
