Hyper-threading vs more cores

Like the above question states, if I have a CPU (Pentium G4560) that has 2 cores and 4 threads, AND has hyper-threading, would I need this if I bought a i5 7500 that has 4 cores and 4 threads, would this outweigh hyper-threading? And is the i5 7500 compatible with a b250 chipset?

4 physical cores are better than 2 physical + 2 logical. The i5-7500 is better than the G4560 and it is compatible with the B250 chipset. But i wouldn't exactly upgrade to it from the G4560. It depends on the application/game. An i7 would make more sense.

Any recommendations? I play a very wide variety of games and use Adobe premiere to edit vids and stream

Dang. Best recommendation for video editing and streaming would be a Ryzen 7 1700 + B350 mobo. But if switching to AMD is out of the question I guess your next best thing would be the i7-7700 or 7700K. The difference in the K series is that it has higher stock clock, is unlocked for overclocking, and doesn't come with a stock cooler.
