"The storage where the virtual hard disk is located does not support virtual hard disk sharing."

This is the error that keeps popping up when I try to create a VM on Hyper-V.
(I'm using Hyper-V because currently is the only *working* lol program for virtual machine on windows 10.)
Any Ideas?
I've done some research but no answers.

Here are my settings on the VM creator wizard:

Name:Windows 7

Generation: Generation 1

Memory: 8192 MB

Configure Networking: Not Connected (this option doesn't matter)

Connect Virtual Hard Disk: Create a virtual hard disk [name: windows 7; location: C:C:\Users\Public\Documents\Hyper-V\Virtual Hard Disks\; Size: 100gb

Installation Options: Install an operating system from a bootable CD/DVD-ROM

Any help is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Solution
I had the same problem, on windows 10 pro. Another thing I noticed is that when I enabled Hyper-V and restarted, I couldn't find the Hyper-V Manager anywhere, or any of those files. I had to turn on hidden folders, and it was in ProgramData... I think this might have had something to do with it.

How I fixed it:

1. Windows search: Turn windows features on/off
2. Uncheck Hyper-V, including all the sub-checks.
3. Restart when prompted.
4. Repeat step 1.
5. Check all Hyper-V boxes.
6. Restart when prompted again.

A simple solution that I hope works for you too.
As a side note, I just wanted to say Hyper-V is a great virtulization program according to my friend who works with AD all the time, in comparison to VirtualBox and VMware etc, so I'd stick with Hyper-V 😛

As for the issue itself, I'm not sure but I'll float it by him and get back to you once he lets me know.

He is pretty horrible when it comes to replying, no answer yet, sorry :\

I've just tried creating a Windows 7 (32-bit) Hyper-V VM in build 10074 and it works just fine, so it's something individual to your setup.

You might like to post your build no and a few details of your host machine.
