Question Hyper V Setup

Hi Guys,

I set up Hyper V on a laptop and installed Server 2016 on there. I am trying to get the guest to talk to the host, so that I can add the host to the guest domain lol. Is this possible? I tried using the internal switch settings but they still aren't talking to each other.

I set my Hyper-V to "Internet switch", and I am able to talk between them. But I think it's bad idea to add your Host to a domain running inside VM. You'd be better installing another VM with your workstation' client inside, which you'll join to the domain.

Internet switch? I only see 3 options. Maybe you mean internal switch? That is what I have it as. I even set the "switch" with its own IP and set that IP as the gateway of the NIC on the server.

It probably depends what else ss installed. Just checked - on my desktop, they are called "Default Switch" and "External Network", on my laptop, I have "Default", "Emulator NAT", "Internal" and "External".
