Just like to say if anyone has any problems with heat i.e from the prescott then they should really consider getting this hsf + extra 80mm stealth fan - it dropped 20-25c of my stock hsf lowering it to 39-44c on full load with my 2.8 prescott

the hyper6 + vantec stealth fan is £53 from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ inc vat and next day p+p

hyper6 also comes with a fan controller which is rear or front mounted - from full speed to minimum i dont notice hardly any sound vairiation (case fan quite loud)

the instalation prossess is fairly simple even though it requires you to remove your motherboard to get the supporting back bracket on - the manual gives u step by step instructions for both amd and intel

i would rate the hyper6

5/5 for effectiveness
5/5 for quiteness
4.5/5 for instalation
(reason for the .5 drop is that it might not be completly suitable if ur not comfortable with taking out your mobo)

finally here is a link for the hyper6 page

Can the fan controller on the hyper6 controll both fans (if you choose to use 2 fans with it)?

no its only designed to control 1, the vantec stealth fan is very quiet even when i put it on full using the aerogate 2

If u do things right.... People won't be sure you've done anything at all......

You're SOO in love with that heatsink.

I would've complaint if it WASN'T using through-mobo mounting, cause i'd perfer not to rip my socket bracket off and snap/crush any of my expansion cards on its way down.

i would've complained as well if it had no backing plate considering it weighs in at just under 1kg with out the extra fan attached, if u move your pc around alot to lans etc carry it on its side

ok well ive done a couple benchmark with the hyper6 on this set up

p4 2.8e prescott
512mb twinmos pc3200 in dual
ati sapphire 9800pro 128mb
asus p4s800d
audigy 2 platinum
hyper6 hsf + vantec 80mm stealth fan

i used asus prob for my temperature readout which ive checked against my bios temperature and seems to run 2c cooler so just add a couple C on

here are my findings

average idle temp: 33c
peak idle temp: 34c
average full load temp: 41c
peak full load temp: 42c
average idle temp after full load: 33c
peak idle temp after full load: 36c

i ran the "idle test for 30min" then the "full load for 30min" then the "after full load idle temp for 30min".

for the test with full load i was playing farcry for 5min a level then load up a different map, repeated this for 30min

here is a screen shot of asus probe at work

the system i was using was standered. no overclocking and graphics set at farcry recomendations.

hope this will help ppl what to expect from the Hyper6

its both Intel and AMD compatible

have you tried overclocking yet?

This heatsink should lose some mark due to the weight and incompatibility issues.

true ive seen a few posts here and there saying they had problems getting it to fit. my nb heatsink is at an angle and quite close to the hyper6 i have about 5mm gap, ive read that some ppl shave a slight angle on there nb heatsink to get it to fit with no problems

i would proberly rate it around 89-92%

points lost due to:
weight is just under 1kg
incompatible on some mobo's
not for the novice to install
