Hyperthread only one unit working.

Hi.
p4 530 o/c fsb220
asus p5gd1 hyperthread enable in bios.
Win xp pro sp1a french fresh install. (my psu died had to rebuild)

Everest home edition reports hyperthread enable
2 cpu unit visible but only unit 2 gets loaded unit 1 is always 0%
even under severe multitask.

Any idea ?

Well it isn't really two CPUs. Although my Pentium 4 Hyper Threading Northwood shows both graphs with activity, even though it's only running one program. Hmmmm.... It's different that my X2 4800+, both graphs move but one moves a lot less.

Alt-Ctrl-Del and go under Processes. Right click a process and go to Set Affinity and see if its set for both HT cores.

Yes they are.

It seems the problem resolved itself d'ont now why but now it works fine :?:

When my psu broke i had lost hyperthread and reinstalled xp
was working fine..then only one unit was getting the load...then i installed a couple of games anyway.. it came back

Thank you for the hint i did not now knew this one

Now i have weird mouse click behaviour....some time it is really fast and some time i have to hold it down to select something...
maybe when my psu broke more than the psu sufferd...
