Ryzens use infinity fabric to talk between each part of the inside of the cpu. The speed at which this happens is determined by the speed of the ram. Consequently, the higher the ram speed, the better the cpu works. The best match up for Ryzen is using just 2 sticks, so ineffect using slower ram like 2666MHz with a 4x4 kit is about as bad as it gets for a Ryzen pc. Best to use 3000/3200 with 2x8Gb modules. That's a 10-15% bonus to the cpu ability and best chance of cpu OC stability since the memory controller is part of the cpu.

Edit: they'll work fine, but for the money you are spending, there's better performance for an equitable price. Basically a free boost.
