Hi,

Currently I am headset hunting and finally, I have narrowed down to the new Cloud 3 vs Razer Blackshark V2 wired. But can't decide between the two of them. I am leaning towards the Razer because, I heard that after HP acquired HyperX the new headsets are of lower quality. Is that true ? I am paying a considerable amount more towards the Cloud 3.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

I just reviewed the Cloud III, and I was impressed with its build quality — it's very well-built and it definitely looks and feels more refined and premium than the Cloud II. I think it's a better-looking headset than the wired BlackShark V2 — more sophisticated, anyway. I do think the BlackShark V2 line is solid in terms of build, but the wire struts will always look pretty flimsy to me (LOL), and I'm not a big fan of the neon green accents.

As far as sound goes, both are excellent with dialogue/movie/show/game audio and solid with music (depending on the music). Both are a little bass heavy. I do slightly prefer Razer's drivers to HyperX's when it comes to music listening, but the difference isn't super significant. While I hate Razer Synapse, it does give you a decent amount of control over the BlackShark V2's EQ and whatnot; HyperX's NGENUITY did basically nothing for the Cloud III.
