The main use of a PCIe riser is to fit a GPU in when it would not fit inserted directly into the slot (e.g. 'folded' case designs, low Z-height designs , etc). So, you go and stick a non-functional carbuncle on the riser to make it unable to perform its sole function. Great. Well done there.
