There were two HDDs listed right by each other that were nearly identical except for the fact that one was SAS and one was SATA. I'm feeling dumb right about now. I got the SAS drive.

The motherboard for this computer is an Asus Z87-A. The HDD is a Seagate Constellation ES.3. I'm not too familiar with SAS drives and have also been out of PC building for a while anyway. I'm basically wondering if I should return this drive, or if there is a way to have it working in this computer. If it there is a way, is it worth the trouble and/or expense? I know using the drive will require a SAS controller, which I'm assuming the motherboard (will research manual for certainty) isn't capable of besides the fact that I have no way of connecting the two in the first place. I've seen listings for "adapters", but I'm just not sure about it all. If there is already an answer for me out there, simply point me in the right direction and I'll be on my way, thanks.

Solution
Without the expense of buying a SAS controller card and installing it into your pc you're best option is to exchange the drive.

SAS controllers can run Sata drives but Sata controllers cant run SAS drives. Sata runs at lower voltages than SAS and sata controllers can't 'up' theri voltage to run the SAS drives whereas SAS controllers don't have a problem reducing their voltage to run in SATA mode.
