I always keep my hard disk drives full, is it bad?

My Toshiba 1TB hard drive is always full, I keep all the space filled, almost 95-98%
So it shows red in explorer. Is it gonna affect hard disk life?? Should I delete and get back to green state?

No, the only problem you may have is with moving and copying files, but you'd have to be in the low MBs before that happens.

It's full, with movies games & tv series.
If it is not bad, why does windows explorer mark it red??

It's purely a visual warning to indicate that the drive is low on space, that's all.

If your hard drive is full and if you are getting warning about low space, i recommend to get an external HDD or SDD. Here are some links

Personally (and it used to be the case a long time ago) I'd look to keep 20% free, minimum. But that's probably older thinking.

As a rule you should keep 15-20% of your drive FREE. If you're running out of space... get another drive. Also, you're losing performance.

Your drive will become fragmented and will lose performance. Other than that, it's all good. Windows just warns you that there's little space left nothing else.

Personally, I'd still say no. it wasn't good practise, I don't believe it is now.

Yes. Except for fragmentation, no worries whatsoever. They are meant to hold data
