I wonder if anyone can help explain if Type 3 M.2 is the same as NVME? My motherboard is EVGA X99 Classified. The manual only says that it is for Type 3 M.2. The slot has the notch on the right-hand side. But then watching a video on Youtube explaining difference between M.2 & NVME. M.2 has the notch on the left. NVME has a notch on both right and left-hand side. NVME can only fit into a slot that has the notch on the right-hand side while M.2 can fit in both. Am I correct?
The price of both M.2 & NVME has dropped a lot since the day I bought the motherboard. I am considering upgrading to one of these storage devices to boot from. Also, am I correct to say that M.2 is faster than a 2.5 inch SATA SSD? Thank you very much for your help in advance.
