Yes, the 4690k is unlocked. You will more than likely be able to get 4ghz with the 212, any higher and you'll want a bigger cooler. I put the 212 in because its a good budget cooler that will allow some overclocking. The 750w Evga will also support a 2nd 970.

Thanks for the response, I did what you said and the computer was bumped up to $1239 which is more than it was before. I am around a 1.2k budget. Is there something else I can do like keeping the i7 and gtx 960 or do I need to change it? I am playing games that are very CPU based such as Arma and Dayz but also games that aren't so big such as counter strike.

If you are planing on changing your PC in two years or less you can go with your first build, but if you want a pc that will keep up a very good performance for more time I think you should go with the suggestion bignastyid made.

On a 1.2k computer 40$ is not much, I think, but you can try to cut on peripherals and secondary components, like sound reduction, sound card, or even the card reader, and buy them later.

But there seems to be some kind of problem with GTX 970 ram: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/does-the-geforce-gtx-970-have-a-memory-allocation-bug.html

I play intense CPU based games but I have heard if you overclock the i5 it would be fine. I may go with the list you sent me and would it be possible to overclock that processor you sent me?

I heard that overclocking may cause a lot of wear on the processor, is that true and should I be worried about that? And also, will the power supply be able to handle everything because I may need an 800 but that's only if the 750 won't be enough.
